Music is a powerful inspiration, fueling our imaginations with invisible imagery. At certain times, it is appropriate to use music as a tool. I was wondering if my fellow scribes have the same habit as I do: Do you listen to music in the midst of writing? If so, what genre inspires you? I adore classical music, it is my first choice. Lyrics tend to distract me, possibly because I am trying to type words simultaneously alongside the singing. My preferences differ as the atmosphere of the story changes. If the story turns dangerous, I play a song that possesses drive and a fast rhythm. If the story has a sad undertone, I play a ballad. Sometimes, it doesn't even matter. What are your thoughts?
