For many years, the different realms on the continent of Garn warred with one another as realms most often do. Sometimes they warred for water rights, other times land and a myriad of other reasons. There came a time, 234 years past when the elder Elves came forth with an idea. The many kings sat in unison to listen to the proposal the Elves had and they liked what they heard.
The Elves proposed peace and harmony throughout the realms by electing a "High King" to rule over squabbles rather than warring. Together, the kings elected King Adon Greer and for his heirs from this day forward to act as "High King" of Garn. As part of the newly formed United Realms, an elder Elf would sit alongside the "High King" to act as his advisor. The position was to be held for 100 years at which time another elder Elf would replace him. Being that Elves were such long lived, this was an acceptable term of office. The idea was that the advisor would assist in raising the next heir to the throne and most often his child after that. Continuity in training would exist as a result.
The kingdom chosen for this position was Calendrune, the largest of all the cities in Garn. To this day, the realms have been war free and living much more prosperous and harmonious lives.
